Martha and Tom have been waiting months for this wedding; it was Martha’s college roommate and her fiancé tying the knot on that warm July day. Tom decided to rent a limo to take Martha and him to and from the wedding and reception, that way there would be no worry about how much they drank. It was sure to be a fantastic time.
The limo arrived right on time to pick Tom and Martha up at the house. When the limo driver opened the door for the couple, Martha’s jaw dropped. It was the man she had an affair with last year. Oh boy. This was not going to go over well she thought. Tom thankfully wasn’t aware of the affair or the fact that Martha was a bit uncomfortable with this situation. The couple got into the limo and away they went. The driver, Chad, has not lost his feelings Martha. He continued to text her and try to get her to leave Tom, but she refused.
Chad being the inconsiderate selfish man he was asked, “How have you been Martha, it’s been a long time since we have seen each other” Tom looked at Martha who went pale. Oh dear, here it comes. Chad continued on, “The last time I saw you, I was in that hotel…remember…what was the name…?” Martha snapped, “I have no idea what you are talking about, sir.” It was too late; Tom’s mind was already spinning with questions and thoughts. “Oh that’s right it was the Radison, and you wore that little navy blue dress, the one with the slit up the thigh.” Chad continued again. There was no hope. Tom looked at Martha with that questioning look, the one that says “I know what you did.”
Martha began to tell the story about Chad, and only made it about half way through when Tom yelled “ENOUGH!” “What were you thinking? 15 years of marriage and this is what I get in return? I want a divorce” Tom growled angrily. Martha could only respond with “now? You are doing this now, less than a mile from the wedding?” Shock filled her mind and hurt filled her heart, she has known Tom long enough to know that once his mind is made up that is that and there is no changing it. Tom, instructed the driver to stop the limo, and he got out. Told Martha he would have his lawyer contact her and to have fun at the wedding. The limo pulled away from the curb and away it went the rest of the way to the wedding. How on earth would Martha make it through this night?
